چکیده

In this paper, we address the problem of specifying and generating preferred plans using rich, qualitative user preferences. We propose a logical language for specifying non-Markovian preferences over the evolution of states and actions associated with a plan. The semantics for our first-order preference language is defined in the situation calculus. Unlike other recent temporal preference languages, our preferences are qualitative rather than just ordinal, affording greater expressivity and less incomparability. We propose an approach to computing preferred plans via bounded best-first search in a forwardchaining planner. Key components of our approach are the exploitation of progression to efficiently evaluate levels of preference satisfaction over partial plans, and development of an admissible evaluation function that establishes the optimality of best-first search. We have implemented our planner PPLAN and evaluated it experimentally. Our preference language and planning approach is amenable to integration with several existing planners, and beyond planning, can be used to support arbitrary dynamical reasoning tasks involving preferences.

Decision-Theoretic GOLOG with Qualitative Preferences

Personalization is becoming increasingly important in agent programming, particularly as it relates to the Web. We propose to develop underspecified, task-specific agent programs, and to automatically personalize them to the preferences of individual users. To this end, we propose a framework for agent programming that integrates rich, nonMarkovian, qualitative user preferences expressed in a l...

Solving the ridesharing problem with Non-homogeneous vehicles by using an improved genetic algorithm and the social preferences of the users

Most existing ridesharing systems perform travel planning based only on two criteria of spatial and temporal similarity of travelers. In general, neglecting the social preferences caused to reduce users' willingness to use ridesharing services. To achieve this purpose a system should be designed and implemented not just based on two necessary conditions of spatial and temporal similarities, but...

Simple Temporal Problems with Preferences and Uncertainty

Simple Temporal Problems (STPs) are a restriction of the framework of Temporal Constraint Satisfaction Problems, tractable in polynomial time. Their expressiveness has been extended independently in two ways. First, to account for uncontrollable events, to Simple Temporal Problems with Uncertainty (STPUs). Second, more recently, to account for soft temporal preferences, to Simple Temporal Probl...

Elicitation and Application of Narrative Constraints Through Mixed-

In this paper we describe a planner that extends the TLPLAN system to enable planning with temporally extended preferences specified in PDDL3, a variant of PDDL that includes descriptions of temporal plan preferences. We do so by compiling preferences into nondeterministic finite state automata whose accepting conditions denote achievement of the preference described by the automata. Automata a...
